Martin Keown reveals who he believes Arsenal’s key man will be this season

Arsenal legend Martin Keown believes Unai Emery should build his side around Alexandre Lacazette this season.

The Frenchman has been the Gunners star player so far this season, despite only starting one Premier League game.

Lacazette impressed in cameo appearances against Manchester City, Chelsea and West Ham, and was finally rewarded with a start against Cardiff City last weekend where he scored the winner in a 3-2 victory.

And so impressed has Keown been with the former Lyon striker, he believes he could, and should, be Unai Emery’s key man for the remainder of the campaign.

Keown told the Daily Mail when asked which Arsenal player has impressed him most this season: “I think special mention has to go to Alexandre Lacazette.

“How patient has that man been? His attitude has been impeccable.

“He failed to make the French squad for the World Cup then watched from afar as they went on to lift the trophy in Russia.

“Emery used him as a substitute in his first three Premier League matches, then he finally gets to start against Cardiff.

“So what does he do? He goes and scores the winner. Lacazette now has to play and be the person they build around. Full credit to him.”
