Mario Mandzukic getting closer and closer to Arsenal?

Giroud and Welbeck are expected to face a top notch competitor for a spot in next season’s starting eleven.

Wenger could have the chance of landing one of Arsenal’s primary 2014 targets as Mario Mandzukic grows further and further apart from Atletico. Despite being one of La Liga’s best scorers, he is very likely to leave at the end of the season given his fallout with Diego Simeone.

The Emirates could become the Croatian’s new home as early as June which is when the transfer window opens. According to the Daily Star, the 28 year old striker is to be replaced with another player who has been strongly related to the North Londoners. Edinson Cavani, who has been reportedly in negotiations with Wenger in the past, is favored to replace Mandzukic in front of goal. It would seem like the perfect plan for Arsenal who would benefit immensely from having Sanchez and the Croatian international storming towards their adversary’s goal.

Mandzukic is now valued at about £20million which should not be a problem for Arsenal. Even though his contract is still in effect for the next three years, there seems to be no turning back for the 28 year old who is very unlikely to patch things up with Simeone.

If the Croatian international does decide to join Arsenal, he would definitely motivate both Giroud and Welbeck to take things up a notch. Mandzukic has proven to be a world class striker who exceled in every environment up until now and will probably do the same for the next couple of years in the Premier League given the chance.
