Mario Goetze Close To Being Guardiola’s First Signing

The Gunners have a long list of players from which to pursue during the summer signing period. Even though it will reportedly be their most impressive transfer campaign yet, they have so far failed to make any definite moves when it comes to bringing in star quality players. According to The London Evening Standard, David Villa was their first miss, Victor Valdes is apparently the second and according to recent news Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Goetze is their third. It appears Bayern’s soon-to-be coach, Pep Guardiola was the main factor that influenced the young German international’s decision not to consider Arsenal any further. He was the perfect player for Wenger’s playing style and would have been the best solution to please both the Frenchman and the fans who want the same things but may want to achieve them in different ways. Arsenal’s coach seemingly remains true to his previous transfer policy that focuses on youngsters and the fans are eagerly awaiting some major names to finally come to the Emirates.

Goetze was the perfect fit for Wenger’s team. He is one of Europe’s most promising players, making his debut for Dortmund while he was 17. Since then, he has earned 22 caps for Germany and has also won 2 Bundesliga titles in the past 2 seasons. He is now close to his first major European trophy. Dortmund will face Real in the Champions League semi-final 2nd leg and have a good chance of moving forward considering they already have a 4-1 lead from the 1st leg.

Even though Wenger was ready to pay good money for Goetze, it seems that the young German international is very tempted to work with Guardiola and with the Bayern staff that have managed to get their team to two of the last three Champions League finals. This is a very important factor, considering Arsenal have not won anything in the past 8 years.

Goetze expressed his desire to join Bayern, who are one match away from reaching their third Champions League final in the past four months. They managed an impressive 4-0 win over Barcelona and will probably go through. The 20 year old German international is ready to refuse Arsenal’s offer and move to Munich on the 1st of July.
