Mandzukic Set For Premier League Move With Man United, Arsenal Lurking

One of the longest transfer sagas came to an end this week as Bayern Munich officially announced the capture of Borussia Dortmund striker Lewandowski on a Bosman transfer. The Polish footballer will join the reigning Champions League winners at the start of next season, following in the footsteps of Mario Gotze.

His move to Munich has raised doubts over the future of Mario Mandzukic, who is the current number one striker at the club. The 27-year-old is in his second season at the club and has already scored 12 goals in 21 appearances for Bayern.

However, the arrival of Lewandowski will push him down the pecking order and recent reports have suggested that he could be on the move soon. According to Yahoo! Eurosport, Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Manchester United are both lining up a move for the Croatian, who has also attracted interest from Juventus.

Since Lewandowski is arriving only at the end of the season, you would imagine both English clubs will have to wait until the summer before a move can be finalised.

Wenger is already on the lookout for a new striker and may make a move for Mandzukic if he is unable to sign a proven goal scorer in January. Manchester United are more in need of central midfielders so any move for Mandzukic may depend on the possible departure of Wayne Rooney.
