Mandzukic In Arsenal Sights

According to Metro, the door has opened for Arsenal to make a move for Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic, after his former club Wolfsburg’s manager categorically denied the possibility of a move for the Croatian frontman.

Arsenal will be rejuvenated after their victory against city rivals Tottenham Hotspur, but the club will have learnt its lessons this season after running on the borderline when it comes to the depth of the squad. The striking department began firing on all cylinders with Olivier Giroud, but lost some steam as the season progressed and the proximity of matches became shorter but in fairness Giroud has been playing well again in the last few weeks. Arsene Wenger is losing faith in Nicklas Bendtner, who is constantly involved in controversies off the pitch. The French boss chose to give youngster Yaya Sanogo a chance against Bayern perhaps due to a lack of fitness of the other strikers like Podolski and Giroud.

Mandzukic has been in scintillating form for Bayern, scoring 32 goals in 47 league appearances. The former Dinamo Zagreb striker will surely pose a serious threat to Premier League defenders, considering his build and height. The 27-year old is experienced both domestically and internationally, presenting a good profile for Wenger to sign in the summer.
