Mandzukic Close To Bayern Exit Amid Arsenal Interest

The 27-year-old, Mario Mandzukic’s position at the club has been undermined ever since Bayern confirmed they had agreed a deal with Robert Lewandowski to sign for the club this summer. The Dortmund striker will join the Bundesliga champions from next season onwards and it looks increasingly likely that Mandzukic may not be able to team up with him.

Bayern had initially stated that Mandzukic will not be sold despite Lewandowski’s arrival at the club. However, their stance seems to have changed and they are now willing to listen to offers for the Croatia international.

His exclusion from the match day squad to take on Dortmund in the German cup means he is on his way out of the Allianz Arena, according to a report by the Daily Mail. He has no shortage of suitors, with Arsenal leading the chase for his signature.

Wenger is targeting a new striker and will move for either Karim Benzema of Real Madrid or Mandzukic in the summer. Their current number one striker Giroud needs more support up front and 26-goal scorer Mandzukic may be the ideal striker for Arsenal.
