Man City Star Heading For Arsenal

Arsenal could be set to land Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko. The 29-year-old wants to leave the Etihad in order to receive more game time at a vital stage in his career. Arsene Wenger is keen on bringing the player to Arsenal.

Manchester City paid Wolfsburg a modest £27 million for the striker back in 2011, 4 years on, Dzeko’s valuation will be some way below that figure.

Dzeko is a proven Premier League hit-man, however he has struggled to keep his name in the starting XI throughout his career at City. Despite scoring 72 goals in 187 appearances for the Sky Blues, the Bosnian has effectively been neglected by City as he has endured most of his time on the bench.

Wenger is looking to offload a few deadwood strikers this summer, with Podolski, Sanogo and Joel Campbell set to leave the Emirates. Now it seems the Frenchman wants Dzeko to fill the void and provide competition for Giroud and Welbeck.

Although Dzeko looks certain to leave the Etihad this summer, the player is contracted until June 2018, meaning City may demand a relatively high fee. Wenger would be looking at a figure anywhere around £15-20m for the striker.

Arsenal’s search for a striker this summer may well be in the early stages, but for Edin Dzeko, a move to Arsenal could well be the opportunity he has been waiting for. At 29, he could be playing regular football for a title challenging side, and there is no doubt he would be among the goals.
