Man City Offered Defender To Arsenal But They Refused!

Arsene Wenger was keen to add more depth in the centre-back department after losing club captain Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona in a £15 million deal.

Wenger was offered the chance to sign promising centre-half and left back Micah Richards from Manchester City but declined to sign the 26-year-old, according to talkSPORT. The Englishman has been on the periphery of the first-team at the Etihad and wanted to experience a new challenge to further his career.

However, Wenger was happy with how new signing Calum Chambers was operating at the heart of Arsenal’s defence and decided against a move. The former Southampton defender has been voted Arsenal’s player of the month for August, vindicating Wenger’s belief in the youngster.

Richards, meanwhile, has decided to revive his career with Fiorentina in Serie A after agreeing a season-long loan deal.

Do you think Wenger was right in turning down a move for Richards?
