Madrid President Continues Blame Game With Ozil

Mesut Ozil’s Deadline Day transfer to Arsenal may have delighted everyone related to the London club, but the manner of the transfer has not gone down too well with his former team Real Madrid. The midfielder left the Spanish giants on not-so-good terms which has less than impressed the hierarchy at the club.

The likes of Real Madrid’s club director of football Zinedine Zidane has been joined by the club’s president Florentino Perez in sending venomous verbal blows across in Ozil’s direction. Perez had even previously accused the 24-year old of lacking professionalism and being obsessed with women from across the world, which in turn took a toll on his professional career with Real Madrid.

Perez has now continued his digs at Ozil by stating that he could not cope with the immense pressures which came along with the tag of being a footballer at Real Madrid, and instead became a weaklink and made his way to Arsenal, once the Gunners came knocking.

Perez spoke to Spanish newspaper AS and was reported by Metro as saying, “Ozil asked to leave the club environment and here, no-one should be upset,”

“He could not stand the pressure of Madrid.”

The manner of the transfer will further irk the Spanish giants as Ozil has settled into the Arsenal team effortlessly. He made an immediate impact on his debut as he set up French forward Olivier Giroud, and was again influential in Arsenal’s successful 2-1 win at Marseille in midweek and again on the weekend in the 3-1 win over Stoke City.

However, it looks almost certain that this game of accusations is set to continue, as reports emerging in the press suggested that Ozil is probably considering resorting to legal action to tackle this situation.

Do you see this getting any messier? Will Ozil respond to Perez’s comments?
