Real Madrid, who won the Champions League this season, have already confirmed that striker Alvaro Morata can leave the club this summer in search of regular playing time. A host of European clubs are interested in his services, which will naturally drive up his asking price.
With just a year for his contract to expire, Madrid have slapped an audacious €30 million price tag on his shoulders. They are not keen on a loan deal and want that sum for a permanent transfer of the 21-year-old.
However, they are prepared to lower their asking price to about €18 million if Arsenal include a buy-back option for Real. The La Liga club are afraid of a backlash from their own fans if Morata joins another club and goes on to become a superstar.
According to AS, Arsenal have been scouring Europe for a new striker and Wenger is very keen on bringing Morata to the Emirates. However, the transfer fee could prove to be a stumbling block.
Do you think Wenger should spend big for an inexperienced 21-year-old who just has a year remaining on his contract?
