Luiz Singles Out One Arsenal Youngster Who Has The Potential To Develop Into A “Fantastic Player”

Arsenal defender David Luiz believes his new teammate Gabriel Martinelli has the potential to develop into a top player for the club. The Brazilian says he will use his experience to help out his compatriot:

“He is a young player, he’s talented and everyone speaks very well about him, everyone is excited because they know he has the potential to become a fantastic player soon and in the future.”

“It will be good to work with him, try to help him and also give him a bit of my experience in football around the world. I hope we both can do big things here.”

Martinelli came on for the last six minutes of the win against Newcastle last weekend, replacing Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and it is clear that manager Unai Emery and the coaching staff rate him highly.

Whether the 18-year-old will get much regular first-team football this season, it does seems doubtful, especially because of the options that the Gunners have up front.

The signing of Nicolas Pepe, combined with the talents of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Reiss Nelson means Martinelli may have to wait for his chance.

With Arsenal in the Europa League, though, the Brazilian may well get some regular game time in that competition, while a run out in the domestic cup competitions is also very likely.
