Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno says the Gunners must play with a strong mentality if they want to secure a top-four finish this season.
The London club moved up to third position in the table after their 2-0 win against Newcastle on Monday night, and Leno thinks they played the game with the right mindset which they can carry into future matches:
“I think we’re in a very good position but it’s still a long way because the other teams will wait for our mistakes. We have to be focused in every game and if it’s possible we need to win every game. Then we can get back to the Champions League.”
“We knew that after the international break we had a very important game [against Newcastle]. We saw that mentality last night.”
With Manchester United having slipped up against Wolves last night, it means Arsenal can extend the gap to fifth place to five points with a win against Everton on Sunday afternoon.
The trip to Goodison Park is one of the toughest fixtures left for the Gunners this campaign, along with the way games against Watford and Wolves later this month.
It’s the start of an intensive period for Unai Emery’s team with Arsenal having eight games to play in April, including home and away legs against Napoli in the quarter-final of the Europa League.
