Lawrenson Predicts The Result As Arsenal Take On Burnley

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson isn’t expecting Arsenal to get the three points when they face Burnley at Turf Moor in the lunchtime kickoff tomorrow.

Despite the Gunners heading into the match in confident mood after an excellent display versus Leicester last weekend, the Clarets also drew with the Foxes during the week, and Lawrenson thinks Sean Dyche’s men will put in a similar performance on Saturday:

“Burnley were much improved when they shared the points with Leicester on Wednesday, while Arsenal were very impressive when they beat the Foxes at the weekend. The Gunners will want revenge for their home defeat by the Clarets before Christmas, when they had Granit Xhaka sent off and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored Burnley’s winner with an own goal. It is a draw I am going for here, though, which will help keep Burnley edging away from the bottom three.

Lawrenson has gone with a 1-1 draw, which isn’t an entirely surprising prediction. As he mentions, Burnley won the reverse fixture earlier this season so it will not be an easy game.

However, the fact that the Clarets have had to play an extra game midweek should play into Arsenal’s hands. Mikel Arteta’s side have pretty much had a full week to prepare for this match, and while a trip to Turf Moor is always fraught with danger, there is every chance that they could secure victory if they play anything like they did against Leicester.
