Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger does not want to be held ransom to Germany midfielder Khedira’s £150,000 a week wage demands before bonuses. He is set to end his interest in the 27-year-old, according to a report published by the Mirror.

Khedira was expected to be the second big-name signing following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona for £33 million. Arsenal were prepared to pay around £23 million to Real Madrid for the combative midfielder even though he just has a year left on his current deal.

His demands for £150,000 a week wages, which would make him Arsenal’s best paid player, has been rebuffed by Wenger who is exploring alternative options. Another German in the form of Lars Bender is being targeted by Wenger.

So this Khedira transfer saga is becoming one of those on again off again transfers but lets hope its on and very soon but if you read the majority of the latest papers and blogs it seems like Sami Khedira could become the Julian Draxler of the summer transfer period – meaning there is going to be a lot of talk and specualtion but ultimately Khedira will stay with Real Madrid.
