Latest Arsenal Injury Report: Updates On Tomiyasu, Xhaka And Smith Rowe

Arsenal right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu missed the 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup at the weekend due to a tight groin.

The Japanese international was absent for 5-0 win over Norwich City after contracting the virus before returning to play in the 2-1 defeat against Manchester City. However, he is now a doubt for the Carabao Cup clash versus Liverpool on Thursday.

Granit Xhaka was also missing for the Forest defeat, with it being revealed that the Swiss international is self-isolating due to the virus. Manager Mikel Arteta would not be drawn on whether he’d be back for the Liverpool game.

Emile Smith Rowe didn’t make the trip to the City Ground either, with a calf problem ruling him out of the cup tie, and it appears unlikely that he’ll be in the starting eleven at Anfield.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently on international duty with Gabon at the African Cup of Nations but he is also sidelined with the virus, while Folarin Balogun (who is set to join Middlesbrough on loan) is in the same boat.
