Latest Arsenal Injury Report: Updates On Saka, Cedric And Tierney

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka had to be substituted in the 0-0 draw against Burnley yesterday due to injury, and speaking after the match, head coach Mikel Arteta added some more detail about the 19-year-old’s fitness:

“He had a knock in his knee and his hip, so we will see. I think in the last 10/15 minutes he was carrying his injury. We decided to substitute him because he wasn’t feeling good, so tomorrow we will know how he is.”

The Gunners’ newest signing Cedric Soares wasn’t in the squad at Turf Moor with the Portuguese international out of contention with damaged knee ligaments. He is, however, expected to return to action after the winter break.

Sead Kolasinac (thigh) and Reiss Nelson (hamstring) are both likely to return soon from their respective injuries and should be back in the squad for the match against Newcastle in two weeks time.

Kieran Tierney is reportedly not expected to be back in full training until late March. The Scottish international dislocated his shoulder against West Ham back in December, but pictures of him back on the training pitch prompted talk of an earlier than expected return. However, he is now believed to be a doubt for Scotland’s playoff against Israel on March 26th.

Calum Chambers is the club’s other long-term absentee with the defender recovering from an anterior ligament injury he sustained against Chelsea. He is likely to be out for six to nine months.
