Latest Arsenal Injury Report: Updates On Mustafi, Chambers And Pablo Mari

Arsenal centre-backs Shkodran Mustafi and Calum Chambers are both expected to be back in full training after the international break.

Mustafi has not made an appearance for the first team this season after undergoing surgery on his hamstring after picking up the injury in the FA Cup semi-final win against Manchester City back in July.

Chambers has been out of action for even longer, having sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee during the 2-1 home defeat to Chelsea at the back end of last year. It may still be a while before we see the defender back in first-team action.

A third defender is also close to full fitness with Pablo Mari now just two weeks away from returning to training. The Spaniard injured his left ankle in the first game after the restart against Manchester City back in June. The sprained ankle ligaments have taken a while to heal, and he is currently doing light ball work as he does more strengthening and conditioning ahead of his comeback.

Gabriel Martinelli continues his rehabilitation at the London Colney training centre as he aims to make his return from a serious knee injury before the end of 2020. The Brazilian had an operation to repair cartilage back in June after sustaining the problem in training.

Emile Smith Rowe had been out since August with a shoulder injury, but after having his sling removed last month, he has now returned to full training with no issues and should be available to play for the first team in upcoming games.

However, Reiss Nelson has had to withdraw from the England Under 21 squad. The 20-year-old was not included for the Gunners’ 2-1 win over Sheffield United at the weekend with a suspected hamstring injury and it appears he is still not fully fit.
