Arsenal have now confirmed that midfielder Thomas Partey is back in full training. The Ghanaian international has been sidelined with a thigh injury since the 2-0 defeat to Tottenham last month.
Video footage of the 27-year-old was released earlier this week showing the player had returned to training with the squad and it now seems very likely that he’ll play some part against Newcastle in the FA Cup on Saturday evening.
The Gunners only other fitness concern is Gabriel. The centre-back has been self-isolating after picking up the virus but the club have now confirmed that the Brazilian is asymptomatic and is awaiting the all-clear to make his comeback.
A negative test will be needed before the defender can make his return so, at this stage, it’s unlikely he’ll face the Magpies this weekend. He has not played for Arsenal since he was sent off in the 2-1 defeat to Everton before Christmas.
