Latest Arsenal Injury News: Updates On Luiz, Tierney And Lacazette

Arsenal centre-back David Luiz pulled a hamstring early in the second half against Newcastle at the weekend. The Brazilian was replaced by Calum Chambers in the 2-0 win and manager Mikel Arteta is not hopeful that he will return to action soon.

Muscular problems do often occur after returning from a lengthy injury, and with the player having only recently recovered from knee surgery, it seems he simply came back too soon. It would be a huge surprise if he is available for the Europa League semi-final second leg against Villarreal on Thursday.

Another massive doubt is Kieran Tierney. Many were surprised to hear Arteta claim last week that the left-back was close to a comeback but, as it turned out, he was being overly optimistic. He still hasn’t returned to full training after a knee injury and is unlikely to feature later this week.

Alexandre Lacazette is in the same boat. The Frenchman has not been able to train since picking up a hamstring issue so the best fans can hope for is that the striker can make the bench on Thursday night.
