Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed last week that the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Fabio Vieira had returned to training.
However, the Spaniard did emphasise that the three players were at “different phases” in terms of their match fitness. While Smith Rowe and Tomiyasu both made the bench for the win over Leicester, Vieira was again absent from the squad.
The Portuguese international did not take any part in pre-season due to a foot injury, but it looks as though he will be integrated into the first team soon.
There is a hope that he will be included in the travelling party for the trip to Bournemouth this weekend, but there are no guarantees that he will be ready to make his debut.
Reiss Nelson is the Gunners’ only other injury concern at the moment. The winger has picked up a muscular problem and Arteta has said the club’s medical team have yet to determine how long he will be out for.
