Arsenal centre-back Gabriel had to be substituted during the second half of Brazil’s 5-1 win over Bolivia on Friday evening.
It was the 25-year-old’s debut for his country but he was forced off the pitch due to a thigh problem with five minutes left on the clock.
Gabriel was pictured with an icepack on the bench following his substitution but there has been no update on how serious the injury is.
The defender did take to Instagram to express his delight that he had made his first appearance at international level but he didn’t mention any fitness issues.
Some have already taken that to mean that Gabriel has only picked up a knock, but we shall have to wait and find out whether that is in fact the case.
Partey will miss at least six fixtures
Thomas Partey was not in the matchday squad for the 3-1 victory against Manchester United, with it subsequently being confirmed that he had sustained a muscular problem in training prior to the match.
After additional scans, it is believed that the midfielder has damaged both his thigh and groin, with it being estimated that he’ll be sidelined for up to six weeks.
Partey is set to miss the league fixtures versus Everton, Tottenham, Bournemouth and Manchester City, as well as 2 Champions League group games against PSV Eindhoven and Lens.
Updates on 2 other Arsenal players
Mohamed Elneny has still not returned to full training, despite the fact that he travelled with the Gunners’ squad for the pre-season tour of the United States. However, the Egyptian did reportedly say after the United game that he will be back in action “soon.” He has not played since undergoing knee surgery back in January.
Jurrien Timber is expected to miss most of the season with an ACL injury. The Dutchman lasted just 50 minutes into his Premier League debut versus Nottingham Forest before being forced off.
