Lacazette: Reiss Nelson will be a ‘top player’ for Arsenal

Arsenal’s club-record signing Alexandre Lacazette says he has seen enough of youngster Reiss Nelson to be convinced he will become a ‘top player’ at the Emirates.

At just 17, Nelson could be set to play against Doncaster Rovers in the Gunners’ League Cup third-round tie. Many have tipped the youngster to make it all the way to the top at Arsenal in the near future, the latest of whom is Lacazette, who has been left more than impressed by the teen.


“I think Reiss is very good,” Lacazette told Arsenal’s official website. “I believe he will be a top player for the club. He already impressed me during preseason and it’s great to see what he’s been doing for the under-23s.”

“His stats are very good and he’s been performing well. When he’s played with us, he’s shown that he has real quality,” Lacazette said.

Wenger is well known for bringing through youth players at Arsenal, and Nelson is one of many that are touted for breaking into the first team picture soon. Their League Cup game against Doncaster will serve as a good opportunity to showcase some of their up and coming talent, with several youngsters hoping for a look-in.

Eddie Nketiah was also praised by Lacazette, saying the forward has good technique.

“I really like Eddie as well,” he said. “He’s a great striker at the academy. He is very calm in front of goal and has great technique.”
