Lacazette: My best is yet to come

Arsenal forward Alexander Lacazette says he needs more time at the club in order for his best form to show. The club-record signing from Lyon has had a good start to life at the Emirates, scoring two goals in five appearances, but the Frenchman insists his best is yet to come, sighting the fact that he does not know his forward partners well enough yet.

The 26-year-old is hoping to form a deadly partnership with his Arsenal teammates over time, a partnership he hopes will be complete when he has total understanding with the stars, meaning he can play alongside them with his ‘eyes shut’.

“Obviously a couple of months isn’t long enough to get to know my team-mates really well,” Lacazette said.

“I’ll be happy when I have that understanding with them on the pitch with my eyes shut. It has been going well already, as I’ve managed to score some goals and boost my confidence. It’s going well.”

Lacazette also admitted he is easing into life in England well, despite the poor weather, sighting the French figures at the club a big helping point.

“It’s good, although the weather is rather strange. I’ll have to get used to going from sunshine to cold rain in a matter of seconds!”

“I’m enjoying myself at the club. Everything is going well with my team-mates, the coaching staff and the medical team. I’m really happy.”

“In the dressing room there are plenty of Frenchmen who’ve been helping me. The English players are very nice to me.”

“All my team-mates in the squad are friendly. I have a natural connection with my French team-mates, but I am learning every day from everyone.”

“It’s going well and I hope it will carry on like that all season long.”
