Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin says that new signing Alexandre Lacazette is “ice cold” in front of goal and believes the forward will produce many goals in the Premier League for years to come.

The Gunners smashed their transfer record when signing Lacazette from Lyon this month, with a fee for the 26-year-old believed to be around £53m. Wenger has been a known admirer of the Frenchman for some time, and fought off strong competition around Europe to finally complete a deal this summer.

Fellow countryman Coquelin is a big fan of the new addition, and sees no reason why he can’t replicate his form in Ligue 1 to the Premier League.

The Arsenal midfielder said “There is always a little question mark but I’m not scared. When you are a goalscorer, you are a goalscorer. Even at 17, he was always the same. In front of goal he’s always ice cold, he always scores a lot of goals.”

“When we played with the national team, he finished top scorer when we played the under-20s World Cup. His record for Lyon is incredible. He’s scored so many goals over there.”

“He scored 140 goals for the club so he’s shown that in front of goal he doesn’t mess around and that’s what we need.”

“He scored 37 goals last season in 45 games, so I don’t know why he cannot score for Arsenal. It is just whether he is going to put them away and I’m sure he will.”

With the new Premier League season underway shortly, Lacazette will be desperate to show what he is capable of. He has been a consistent goalscorer in France, now it’s time for him to take the next step.
