Lacazette: Arsenal’s target is always to finish in the top 4

It’s certainly a subject that divides opinion, but Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette has insisted the club’s target this season has always been to finish in the top 4 – not to win the league itself.

Many Arsenal fans rightly aspire for their team to win the league year after year, and any notion that they should settle for finishing in the top 4 is scandalous. However, with the extreme competition nowadays in the Premier League, it is understandable why such a thing might be perceived as a great achievement.

Striker Lacazette certainly thinks so, and despite Arsene Wenger always remaining adamant that the Gunners are capable of winning the title – he says winning the title is now out of Arsenal’s reach and that the main objective was always to secure a top-four spot.

“It would be really complicated to win it at this point,” said the Frenchman.

“We would really need a miracle.

“City would need to lose a lot of their games and we know their record.

“But the goal in coming here was always to qualify for the Champions League and if we could get the title, fantastic.”
