Khedira Rejects New Madrid Contract – For Arsenal Move?

World Cup winner, Sami Khedira is hot property and the subject of many stories about his possible transfer from Real Madrid with the latest reports suggesting that the 27-year-old, who has just a year remaining on his current contract, has rejected a new two-year deal to stay with the reigning Champions League winners. According to the Daily Star, Khedira, who has just finished his winning World Cup duty with Germany, is interested in linking up with Arsenal next season and is prepared to quit the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are open to selling Khedira after the defensive midfielder turned down the chance to extend his stay with the Spanish giants. Rather than risk losing him for free next season, Madrid would like to cash in on him this summer.

Arsenal are on the lookout for a midfield enforcer and Khedira fits the bill. At 27 years of age, his best years are here and to some extent still to come so he would be a quality addition to Wenger’s squad. He could provide the much-needed cover to the back four which could make Arsenal a force to be reckoned with next season.

However, a stumbling block in Khedira’s proposed £24 million transfer could be his demands for wages worth £150,000 a week so we will see if the Gunners are prepared to pay a big fee and back it up with a large contract for the player.
