Keown Praises Arsenal Ace Who He Sees As “The Future” Of The Football Club

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has praised the performance of forward Gabriel Martinelli after the Brazilian played a pivotal role in the Gunners’ 2-2 draw against Chelsea last night.

The teenager scored with a brilliant individual effort to make the score 1-1 midway through the second half despite his team being down to ten men, and Keown thinks the forward’s spirit and work rate are the embodiment of what Arsenal should look to represent going forward:

“You’re watching that team tonight and you’re seeing the future out there. Martinelli, his goal, the passion, the spirit, we’ve been waiting for this for a long time.”

With David Luiz being sent off so early in the match yesterday evening, it would have been easy to write off the Gunners, but it seems that head coach Mikel Arteta has already instilled some gritty determination into the squad.

Martinelli, in particular, has not put a foot wrong since arriving from Ituano in the summer. It was his third league goal for the club at Stamford Bridge, and his tenth in all competitions, despite only having made eleven starts.
