Keown Makes Surprising Prediction About Arsenal’s Top Four Chances

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown doesn’t believe the Gunners will make the top four this season.

Unai Emery’s team currently sit in fourth place after beating Manchester United at the weekend. They also have the easiest run-in out of their rivals, after having played all of the ‘big six’ home and away already.

However, Keown predicted his top four at the start of the season. He went with Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United, and the ex-Gunner says he is sticking by his prediction:

“On August 6th, a week before the start of the season, I predicted this top four and I’m standing by it. Pochettino is too good a manager to let Spurs slip and United’s re-emergence under Solskjaer has been stunning to watch.”

Considering Spurs are in a freefall at the moment, it is surprising to hear that he thinks they will still finish third. Mauricio Pochettino’s side still have to go to Manchester City and Liverpool in their last eight games.

In addition, Manchester United have to play City as well as Chelsea during the run-in, which makes both of Keown’s favoured teams looking likely to drop points.

Of course, every game in the Premier League is tough, but the Gunners are certainly in the best position on paper to make the top four.
