Kalou In Arsenal SightsAccording to Metro, Arsenal are preparing a bid for former Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou, who is currently plying his trade successfully at French club Lille.

Kalou began his career with Dutch side Feyenoord where he was signed by the senior team as a young striker. After 69 appearances for the club and 35 goals, he made the big move to Chelsea in 2006. The 28-year old spent 6 years at Stamford Bridge, making 156 Barclays Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 36 goals in the process. However, with the presence of Didier Drogba in the side, Kalou could never establish a permanent first team spot for himself, and had to look elsewhere to play regularly. That is when Lille came calling, and Kalou has already scored 24 goals in 55 appearances for the club. The striker has also been a regular feature for the Ivory Coast side, and will play for his country at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Arsenal have been conservative spenders, and are not likely to splash out too much on one player. Wenger will be looking to get multiple deals over the line, and a £2 million bid from Arsenal could be enough to negotiate a deal for the player.
