Juventus Consider Offering Moroccan International Defender In Bid To Land Arsenal Star

Juventus are weighing up whether to offer defender Mehdi Benatia in a part-exchange deal for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, according to reports in Italy.

Ramsey is poised to sign a pre-contract agreement with Juve but the Serie A club would like to see the Welshman move in the January transfer window.

The Gunners want €20m for the midfielder; a figure the Bianconeri are unwilling to pay. Instead, they could propose giving Benatia as part of a player plus cash deal.

The Moroccan international has struggled for game time this season, having made just six appearances in all competitions.

Juventus manager Max Allegri is, however, reluctant to let Benatia leave. An injury to Andrea Barzagli has left the Italian side stretched defensively and the 31-year-old could be needed in the second half of the season.

With that being said, the player himself looks to be more open to a move. Speaking in November, the centre-back said he was growing impatient at his lack of game time:

“I struggle to play with no consistency. I was doing well last season because I was playing on a regular basis. Now it’s not the same. This is my job and I always need to work hard to be ready to play but it’s a situation I don’t like.”

“I am 31 and I want to play as much as I can. Let’s see what happens in January, how many games I will play. Let’s see if Juve and Allegri need me.”
