Arsenal are likely to get involved in the battle for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, according to Marca.
The Spanish publication claims that Chelsea and Manchester United are also said to be keen on the centre-back and, while no bids have been tabled yet, Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi feels it is “just a matter of time” before that changes.
Reports in the English media last week suggested that the Gunners were interested in Kounde and it appears they are lining up a formal approach for the 22-year-old.
Whether they can match Sevilla’s demands for the player, it remains to be seen. Marca say that €65m (£56m) is the amount being talked about at the moment, which would break the Spanish club’s record for a transfer fee received.
It is a figure which may prove too much for Arsenal, especially if they are also going after the likes Emi Buendia and Yves Bissouma. We shall see how this transfer story develops.
