Journalist Reveals Real Madrid Are Keen On “Exercising” Their “Clause” On Arsenal Talisman

Real Madrid have “first refusal” on Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard, according to Marca journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon.

The clause means that if any team tables a bid for the Norwegian international in the future, Real will be given a chance to match it before any sale is agreed and Alvarez de Mon believes it is something that Real could take advantage of:

“I understand that Real Madrid have the right of first refusal for Martin Odegaard. There is a chance they are looking into exercising this clause as his talent is very special and he spent little time in Madrid.”

There isn’t a lot for Gunners fans to be worried about here. The first-refusal option only becomes relevant if the London club decide to sell Odegaard, which isn’t at all likely at the moment.

Considering the 24-year-old’s outstanding form this season, you can’t see him being offloaded any time soon. His current deal expires in 2025 so Arsenal are under no pressure to tie him down to a new contract either. Fans will be hoping that he will be leading the Gunners out for many years to come.
