Journalist Reveals Defender Has “Arrived” To Seal Loan Move After Agreeing 80K A Week Salary

Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac has “arrived” in Germany to seal a six-month loan move to Schalke, according to Bild journalist Christian Falk.

Reports last night suggested that the Gunners would pay part of his salary to enable the switch to go ahead, but Falk says the Bosnian has agreed to “waive” half of his wages, meaning he will earn €2.4m over six months, which works out at roughly £80,000 a week:

Kolasinac’s departure is not a surprise as he was on the verge of leaving before the last transfer window closed back in October, but he was unable to finalise a switch to Bayer Leverkusen.

Reports suggest that the 27-year-old was willing to fight for his place at Arsenal, although he has made just one appearance in the Premier League this season, which indicates he isn’t a key part of manager Mikel Arteta‘s first-team plans.

Kolasinac will also free up space in the squad for another foreign player, which could help the Gunners as they look to make more signings in January.
