Joel Campbell Fancies Arsenal Return

After an extraordinary game in Greece on Tuesday night, Metro are reporting that Arsenal youngster Joel Campbell has reiterated his desire to return to the club after his loan spell at Greek side Olympiakos ends in the summer.

Olympiakos faced Manchester United in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League knockout stage, and the Red Devils’ season went from bad to worse with the result. United lost by two goals to nil in an encounter that once again raised eyebrows over David Moyes’ appointment as long term manager.

For Arsenal, Campbell’s involvement, including a goal, was most encouraging for next season. The 21-year old began his career at Saprissa, where he earned a professional contract in 2009. Two years later, Arsenal came calling, and brought him over to London. However, his stay in the city did not last long as the club sent him on loan to Lorient, Real Betis and finally Olympiakos in the subsequent seasons. The Costa Rican has scored 7 league goals so far for the side that comfortably lead the Greek league.

Campbell will likely be facing some of his Arsenal colleagues when he represents Costa Rica in the World Cup with his country in the same group as England, Italy and Uruguay and he may raise his profile even more with good performances in Brazil
