BT Sport pundit Joe Cole believes Mikel Arteta will need to win against Norwich City if he is to avoid the sack at Arsenal.

The Gunners have started the season with three consecutive defeats and find themselves bottom of the league, with the Canaries just above them in the table on goals scored.

Daniel Farke’s men have already been on the receiving end of two heavy losses since returning to the top flight and Cole says he fears for Arteta if Arsenal don’t pick up all three points against them on Saturday:

“He’s in the storm at the moment. He has to find a result against Norwich and if he doesn’t beat Norwich, I think it’s probably the end for him.”

It’s a bold prediction from Cole but, considering how poor Norwich are, you’d have to think that the pressure to sack Arteta would be too great if the Gunners are unable to secure a win this weekend.

Technical director Edu pleaded for patience from supporters in an interview last week but Arteta has been in the job for 21 months and many feel he doesn’t deserve a lot more time to stamp his mark on the club.
