Jack Wilshere has stirred rumours surrounding his future at Arsenal by leaving a philosophical Instagram story to his followers.

The midfielder’s current contract with the Gunners ends next month, and despite Arsenal offering him a new deal, it looks increasingly likely that the midfielder will look to move elsewhere as the offer is said to be worth less than his current deal.

It is believed that the contract he has been offered is made up largely of appearance-based incentives, with a big cut to his basic salary.

Wilshere has been linked with moves all over Europe, and made it clear on Wednesday night that he is close to deciding his future.

The 26-year-old posted a plain picture with a quote which read: “There comes a time when you have to choose between turning the page and closing the book.”

Wilshere, an Arsenal academy graduate, will not star at the World Cup this summer and hasn’t represented his country since they were knocked out of the Euro’s to Iceland in 2016.

It is believed that the Gunners will try and complete a deal for Uruguay and Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira to replace Wilshere, with a fee of £26m being quoted.
