Jack Wilshere will be sorely missed at Arsenal insists Gunners forward

Danny Welbeck says he will be sad to see Jack Wilshere leave Arsenal this summer, and says he will be a sorely missed figure at the club.

Wilshere announced he will part ways with Arsenal in the coming months, after turning down an offer to sign a new deal at the club.

The 26-year-old has been with the Gunners since a schoolboy, and exploded onto the scene as a teenager, establishing himself as a first team regular in Arsene Wenger’s side at an early age.

However Wilshere endured numerous injury problems in the years to follow, limiting him to less than 200 appearances in nine seasons, and only five between 2015-2017.

Welbeck, who spent four years with Wilshere after joining Arsenal in 2014, says the Englishman will be hugely missed at The Emirates.

“Things change so quickly in football and I’m sure he’ll be missed, particularly by the fans,” he said.

“Jack’s contract was coming to an end, the contract was there for him to sign.

“But he’s decided it’s best for him to leave and he feels like it’s come to a time where he’s made that decision and has to move on.

“He’s got to be positive with it, grasp the opportunity with two hands and keep improving and take himself to the next level.”

Wilshere has been linked with both Wolves and West Ham, the latter of whom he supported as a boy.
