BT Sport pundit Glenn Hoddle was full of praise for Arsenal midfielder Daniel Ceballos after the role he played in the Gunners’ opening goal against Sheffield United last night.
The Spaniard has been subjected to a lot of criticism for his performances in recent weeks, but he produced a great piece of skill to contribute to an excellent team move before Alexandre Lacazette scored. Hoddle singled out his contribution in the build-up:
“What a flick by Ceballos. That’s great skill to open the defence up like that, it’s truly fabulous and a great finish.”
To say it has been a difficult second season for Ceballos at the Emirates would be an understatement. The 24-year-old has been woefully off the pace for large stretches of the campaign, and he has been reduced to a bit-part role in recent months.
With his loan expiring in the summer, it is highly unlikely that the Gunners will consider snapping him up on a permanent basis but, as we saw yesterday, there is certainly a talented player in there.
