Arsenal have now only scored two goals in seven league games following their 2-0 defeat to North London rivals Tottenham yesterday evening.
The lack of creativity has led some fans to call for the return of Mesut Ozil but the German can’t play as he was omitted from the Premier League squad at the start of the season.
Gunners supporters on Twitter feel it is a huge mistake from manager Mikel Arteta, who was the one who made the decision:
its gross negligence thats what it is

Doesn’t matter what you think of Ozil, or whether you think he’d make a difference or not… to take the utterly stupid risk of leaving him out of all squads is stupid and reckless.

I’ve been saying this since he was dropped from the squad. Club needs to swallow pride and add him back in the next window.

The people in-charge of Arsenal football club know better than us all. ? None of our midfielders are better than @MesutOzil1088 but they ostracised him for footballing reasons. #Karma

To be honest, if Arteta does go back on his word and opts to recall Ozil when the Premier League registration window opens once more in January, it would not look good.
It would be an admission from the Spaniard that he got it wrong in the first place. With that being the case, it’s likely that the recruitment department are working hard to sign a playmaker who can be snapped up early in the New Year.
