Italians Set To Make £3m Offer To Secure Arsenal Shot-Stopper On Permanent Deal

Napoli are keen to secure Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina on a permanent basis in the January transfer window, according to reports in Italy.

The Serie A side have a €3.5m (£3.15m) purchase option on the Colombian international to sign him in the summer after his loan spell, but the Partenopei want to snap him up early.

The main reason behind the urgency to secure Ospina permanently is due to Napoli’s concerns over their other first team keeper Alex Meret.

The 21-year-old arrived from Udinese in the summer but has missed most of the campaign so far with a broken arm. With the Italian Under 21 international still working on his match fitness, Ospina is seen as a better option in goal for the immediate future.

With the option to buy inserted in the loan deal, the Gunners don’t really have much of a say in the Colombian’s future now. The 30-year-old would have been behind both Bernd Leno and Petr Cech if he had stayed this season, nonetheless, and with the London club targeting young Polish keeper Radoslaw Majecki, it’s clear there is no future for him at the Emirates.
