Italian Heavyweights Weighing Up £17.3m Offer For Arsenal Defender

AC Milan are interested in signing Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Rossoneri are said to be looking at possible options to strengthen their defence with the German and Atalanta’s Timothy Castagne being considered.

Arsenal are reportedly keen to offload Mustafi but they may want a lot more than Milan are prepared to pay for the centre-back.

The Serie A side may only offer €20m (£17.3m) for the 27-year-old, which would be problematic as the Gunners are keen to recoup as much of the £35m they paid Valencia for the defender as possible.

Mustafi impressed during a two-year spell in Italy with Sampdoria between 2012 and 2014 and it is believed Milan see his experience of Serie A as a key reason for pursuing him.

The German international’s time at the Emirates has been littered with individual mistakes but he continues to play regularly for Arsenal, having made 39 appearances this season.
