Lazio are considering a summer bid for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, according to reports in the Italian media.
The Serie A side’s sporting director Igli Tare has identified two potential Premier League centre-backs as the Italian club look to strengthen their backline.
Chambers and Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles are the two names that Lazio are said to be interested in.
While the Magpies defender may prove a costly purchase, Chambers may be available for transfer this summer.
The 24-year-old had a decent loan spell at Fulham last campaign, being named the club’s player of the season despite the Cottagers’ relegation to the Championship.
However, he remains firmly down the pecking order at Arsenal with Rob Holding, Sokratis, Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi all being favoured ahead of him by manager Unai Emery.
With the Gunners’ limited transfer budget, they may be tempted to cash in if they get a good offer from Lazio.
