Is Wilshere’s Move To Barcelona Looking Possible?

Even though the 2012-2013 football season is far from over and the winter transfer window just ended, transfer rumors constantly appear in order to predict what is probably going to be one of the most interesting summer transfer periods in quite some time. There are a lot of amazing players that have reached their full potential and are looking to take things to the next level by signing with some major European clubs. Unfortunately Arsenal is on the other side of the barricade and instead of being a preferred destination for talented players it is rather a club that is most likely to lose some big names this summer. After almost a decade of missing out on every trophy they could have gotten their hands on, fans are becoming quite unhappy with how the club is being run.

Wenger was targeted several times by both press and supporters and has received a lot of criticism regarding his take on football which is rather influenced by economic aspects than the drive to win competitions and trophies. It is going to be a rough couple of months for the Frenchman who is not at all happy with how the press is treating him. More than that, rumors of important players leaving Emirates Stadium have added a lot of stress to an already frustrated Arsenal coach that reacted angrily during a press conference before the Bayern game and ironically stated that he wants to lose the game against Bayern Munich in order to make everyone happy.

The latest rumored transfer involves one of Arsenal’s veterans so to speak. Jack Wilshere has been playing for the Gunners since he was 9 years old and although he just turned only 21 this January he is an established member of the team. He is one of Wenger’s prize possessions and one of the most promising young players in the world. He was recently linked with move to Barcelona in a transfer rumor after Dani Alves issued a statement saying that Arsenal’s player is a perfect future solution for replacing Iniesta or Xavi. The Brazilian full-back expressed his opinion after playing against Jack Wilshere in a friendly match in which England faced Brazil. Alves was impressed with the English midfielder’s skill and overall personality and is now encouraging him to move to Barcelona.

It would not be a big surprise if this will be Jack’s last season for Arsenal, considering the well-known fact that Barca already brought in many important names that were a big part of the Gunners. Names such as Overmars, Henry, Fabregas and Song all ended up on Camp Nou one way or another.

Do you think that Wilshere wants to go to Barca? Do you think Wenger would sell him and would Barca be prepared to pay what would surely be an enormous transfer fee?
