Is Wenger Saving For This Midfield Genius?

Arsenal may have a lot to look forward to this summer especially if things go as planned. If Arsenal go down the same path as up until now, they could win the Premier League which will bring a plethora of positive things. The biggest impact may come in the form of transfers, transfers that may not be possible unless the Gunners prove they can dominate the most difficult Championship in the world. Also, the Premier League title can mean that Wenger is ready to aim for the Champions League trophy which is the ultimate goal for any footballer.

There has been a lot of speculation regarding the player who will take Flamini/Arteta’s place and compete for a spot in the first eleven with Coquelin. It is quite obvious that the Frenchman and the Spaniard are having a hard time keeping up with the rest of the team, thus leaving a huge gap down the middle of the pitch. As seen in Arsenal’s win against Newcastle, Ramsey is at his best somewhere close to Ozil rather than closer to the defense. He often finds himself ready to score but also leaves a lot of room for the adversaries to go on counterattack. That means that someone needs to keep his position and even play next to Coquelin. Even though it might be a bit farfetched, Wenger might have set his target on the perfect fit for Arsenal. According to Squawka, Toni Kroos could make it to Emirates it what could be another brilliant transfer made by Wenger. The German international who next to Ozil helped Germany become world champions is apparently part of a group of players who will be leaving Real Madrid in the summer. The names included on this list also feature Isco, Benzema and Jesse, none of which would be as useful as Kroos.

The downside of this possible move is that nothing will happen this winter. If Wenger follows the same pattern as before, he will bring in someone on loan and hold for the summer to sign Kroos and probably one or two more players. Hopefully such a strategy will not go terribly wrong and waste all of Arsenal’s chances to win the title.
