International duo set for Arsenal medicals

International duo Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi are set to have medicals at Arsenal on Monday.

Torreira, who represents Uruguay, had agreed to join Arsenal prior to the World Cup, however refused a medical during the tournament to remain focused on his country’s prospects.

However after Uruguay’s elimination at the hands of France in the quarter-finals, the Sampdoria star is now set to complete his long awaited switch to The Emirates.

The deal for Torreira is reported to be worth £26 million, however the cost will be spread over three seasons by the Gunners as manager Unai Emery looks to in-keep with a tight transfer budget.

France U20 midfielder Guendouzi will join from Lorient and is viewed as a top-level prospect for the future.

The 19-year-old will join the Gunners in a £7 million after having rejected PSG at the advice of Unai Emery.

Torreira and Guendouzi will become Arsenal’s fourth and fifth signings of the summer upon the successful completion of their medicals.

The club have already completed deals for trio Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papastathopoulos, who arrived from Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund respectively.
