Injuries Keep Arsenal From Increasing Point Gap

Stoke came into this match thinking of a draw, or at least that is the impression left after seeing the game. There is little to talk about when it comes to the first half aside from a few excellent saves by Butland who Thierry Henrry named as his number one pick in an all-star Premier League team a couple of months back. Arsenal could have won this with a bit more concentration and some luck. They could have won this if Ozil would have been on the pitch. Why? Because the Gunners needed someone to untangle Stoke’s overcrowded defense that was hard to penetrate without some fine final touches. After this draw, fans should start to worry a bit because Arsenal can play without Wilshere, Sanchez and Coquelin but losing Ozil is too much.

Imagine if Ramsey gets injured what will happen. Wenger’s side will not be able to keep up with Manchester City just by using Flamini, Campbell and Oxlade-Chamberlain down the middle. It`s not that they are not good enough, it`s the fact that they are not built to coordinate a team and shine when things get tough. Campbell and Oxlade-Chamberlain are probably two of the most determined players in the lot but they are wingers. They don’t have the same vision of the game and they don’t have the same appetite for goal as let`s say Alexis Sanchez. With the entire midfield in the treatment room, next week’s game against Chelsea looks a lot harder than it should. The Gunners need to erase the last memory of them playing the Blues as they joined the few that stumbled on a Chelsea side having one of the worst Premier League season in history.

It would be a pity to see that yet another title goes down the drain due to injury. I truly hope that this is the year in which Arsenal handle their business properly and fix whatever needs fixing because it would be a really big chance to waste.
