“I’m so happy to be here” says Gunners’ record signing

Club record signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says he is “so happy” to have made his long rumoured transfer to Arsenal and how he hopes to emulate Gunners legend Thierry Henry.

The Gabon international joined Arsenal in a reported £58 million deal from Borussia Dortmund yesterday, ending Arsenal’s search for a new striker.

After scoring nearly 150 times in four-and-a-half seasons with the Bundesliga side, Aubameyang says he is ready for a new chapter in his career.

“Finally!” he responded on the Arsenal official website when asked how it felt to make the switch to Arsenal, “I’m really happy to be here.

“Of course I can join Micki in this team, so I’m really happy to be here in this great team. I think the club has such a big history and great players like Thierry Henry. He’s an example for us strikers. I’m really happy, like I said before.”

When asked if he could emulate Henry’s achievements in North London, he said: “Maybe! I think I have to work a lot to be like him, but I will do.

“Aubameyang could make his debut as soon as the weekend, when the Gunners take on Everton, and the former Dortmund man says he cannot wait to get into the action.

“I hope that we will come back to the top as soon as possible. I will do my best to join in.”
