Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana has had his doping ban reduced from twelve months to nine months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The Cameroon international will now be eligible to play at the start of November while he will be able to train with his teammates again in September.

With Arsenal said to be waiting on CAS’s decision before going ahead with a bid to sign Onana, fans on Twitter think the reduced suspension will likely lead to the Gunners making an approach:

Reports suggest that Ajax would want at least £7m for the keeper, but there is a possibility he could be available for below that figure. The 25-year-old has one year remaining on his contract and his ban means he won’t attract that many bids.

If Onana does arrive this summer, it would place question marks over the future of Bernd Leno, with the German open to leaving the Emirates if the right offer comes along.
