Arsenal are currently ahead of their rivals in the battle to sign Chelsea winger Willian on a free transfer, according to reports in Brazil.
It is believed that the 31-year-old favours staying in London, and it is also thought that his former teammate David Luiz could be playing a role in persuading him to move to the Emirates.
Fans on Twitter had a mixed reaction to the prospect of Willian signing for the Gunners:
I’d take him!

Guess who is a decade younger have half the games but has more goals and assists than him.
Martinelli.
Willian is not a good signing even for free.

William is still a good player
Signing him will add quality to the squad and moreso players like Nelson, Niles, Smith and the rest will learn a lot from him.
Currently I still rate him above Pepe if I am to be honest.— naijamemo (@franzix4me) April 27, 2020
No too old.

Willian is an experienced player who is proven in the Premier League so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Arsenal were considering a move for the player.
However, the Brazilian international has said he wants a three-year contract, and that is unlikely something the London club could offer.
You also need to consider where Willian plays. For Chelsea, he has most often been utilised on the right flank, and with Nicolas Pepe in the squad, Arsenal are not short of options in that position.
