“I’d Be Amazed If Arsenal Let Him Go” Parlour Reacts To Reports That £25m Defender Could Be Sold

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour says he would be shocked if Arsenal decided to sell left-back Kieran Tierney when the transfer window opens.

There have been claims that Leicester City are interested in the 22-year-old, but after only signing the defender for £25m from Celtic last summer, Parlour thinks that the Gunners will look to keep hold of him:

“Well, he would be playing Champions League football next season if he did move to Leicester, but I’d be amazed if Arsenal let him go. What I’ve seen of him when he’s played, he looks a very exciting player.”

“His age as well will come into it; he’s only a young lad. I would definitely keep him, and once he’s fit, give him a run in the team and have a look at him properly.”

Head coach Mikel Arteta has already spoken out on how much he is looking forward to working with Tierney, despite the fact that the Scottish international has struggled with injuries this season. It is, therefore, very unlikely that Arsenal would consider any bids for the fullback.

However, the London club’s finances could well influence their transfer business. Arteta is said to be keen on revamping his squad, and funds may need to be raised through player sales.

Even if that was the case, though, you would still think Tierney would be far down the list of the players who would be sold, even if Leicester were keen to snap him up.
